A Case of Microgranular Acute Promyelocrtie Leukemia

Abstract

|
Authors experienced a fatal case of acute leukemia in a 7-year-old Korean boy who
presented with a high leukocyte count including 76% of blasts. The blasts had folded.
bilobed, reniform neclei and agranular to only finely granular cytoplasm. The
cytochem-ical studies revealed strong positive reactions on peroxidase, sudan black B,
and chloro-acetate esterase stains and negative to weakly positive nonspecific reactions
on PAS and alpha-naphthyl acetate esterase stains. The chromosome study revealed
nonspecific hypodiploid and hyperdiploid patterns including a Philadelphia chromosome.
